Film Indexes Online is a new portal for subscribers to Chadwyck-Healey film resources: Film Index International (FII), the American Film Institute Catalog (AFI Catalog), and FIAF International Index to Film Periodicals, created in partnership with three distinguished film research organizations, the British Film Institute, the American Film Institute, and the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF). Film Indexes Online can be used to cross-search these three resources or to search the individual databases separately.

Developed by the British Film Institute, FII gives full international coverage of films and film personalities from over 170 countries, up to the present day. All eras of film-making are covered - from the early silent movies to recent box-office hits. Based on the British Film Institute’s Summary of Information on Film and Television (SIFT) database, Film Index International is both inclusive and authoritative.

AFI Catalog, compiled by film experts and researchers at the American Film Institute, presents a detailed view of American feature films produced during the last century up to 1971. AFI Catalog offers an unmatched level of detail, with full production and cast information, extensive plot summaries and production notes.

FIAF is an international index to scholarly film periodicals, created by film organizations worldwide and edited by film experts at FIAF in Belgium.  FIAF Plus offers the full-text of many of these titles.  The index begins in 1972 and extends to present day.

Altogether, Film Indexes Online provides unparalleled, cross-searchable access to scholarly, authoritative film information on films from 1893 to present and from over 180 countries.  The portal reflects the most up-to-date film research available, with twice annual updates on the film indexes, quarterly updates on the FIAF index, and monthly additions of full-text journal articles for FIAF Plus.
