Health and Medicine

NEW! – British Nursing Index

As announced this spring, the British Nursing Index joined the Health and Medical suite of products at ProQuest. Until June 2011, the index was compiled using the expertise of librarians from The Royal College of Nursing, Bournemouth University, Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.

BNI on the new ProQuest platform

We are delighted to retain the level of editorial expertise dedicated to this resource, having the BNI editors bringing their knowledge and skills to ProQuest. In addition to this, we are keen to nurture and develop this well-established resource in its new home by:

  • Making it even simpler and more straightforward to use on the clean, user-friendly interface of the new ProQuest platform
  • Now cross-searchable with full-text available in ProQuest Nursing and Allied Health Source
  • Introducing new index fields to allow more precise searching e.g. by author or research type
  • Developing the thesaurus to reflect ongoing changes in research and practice
  • Adding carefully selected titles published outside the UK but maintaining the ability to limit searches to those published in the UK

History

Early European Books

Through the development of the remarkable European complement to EEBO, Early European Books, an international survey of the printed works of the early modern period is now made possible. The survey extends this year with the inclusion of even more digitised books and pamphlets from leading bibliographic centres, all scanned in full-colour, high-resolution, directly from the original source copies. Read more about Early European Books here.

Business

ABI / INFORM

ABI/INFORM has seen significant growth in 2011, with a series of content announcements. 1,000 new market and industry reports were added to our already unrivalled collection, major agreements with The American Economic Association and Palgrave Macmillan illustrate our commitment to providing the best scholarly content available, and a new deal with The Economist secures access to a key publication for our subscribers. All this is part of a period of sustained growth that has seen the number of titles available in active full text almost double in the last two years.
