Divided line

As you complete your doctoral dissertation or master’s thesis you should also consider the importance of sharing your research with the larger academic community. ProQuest’s ProQuest Dissertation Publishing offers the opportunity to publish your research in ways that will allow other researchers to read, learn from, and cite the research.

Publishing Dissertations & Theses with ProQuest?

Graduates worldwide publish their dissertations and theses with ProQuest. This unique service enables authors to publish, archive and disseminate their graduate research within a secure and managed environment. Copies of the documents are kept in both digital and microform formats, which are stored within climate and humidity controlled vaults.

ProQuest: Serving the Scholarly Community since 1938

ProQuest’s ProQuest Dissertation Publishing has been the publisher of record for graduate dissertations and theses for over 70 years. In recognition of its importance as a repository for graduate works, the PQDT database has been made the designated digital archive for the United States Library of Congress for dissertations, the first time an external site has been recognised as the keeper of a key collection.

Increase Visibility, Enhance Access to Research
Inclusion in the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Database

Each work published is given an ISBN reference number and hosted on the ProQuest Dissertation & Theses (PQDT) database, the largest single source for information about doctoral and master’s theses. PQDT contains over 2.5 million citations, the earliest of which dates from 1637. More than one million dissertations can be read online in PDF format.

Citations in leading subject indexes
To further increase visibility of your research, ProQuest provides dissertation citation feeds to many subject indexes including ABI/INFORM®, ERIC®, PsycINFO, CINAHL, Sociological Abstracts, Chemical Abstracts and more.

Open Access options available
With the new Open Access publishing option, graduate students can now publish their dissertations and theses with ProQuest on an open access basis, for readers worldwide to explore free of charge. Those graduate student authors who choose to publish their graduate works open access are able to maximise the dissemination of their research.

International Impact, Global Reputation
By publishing with ProQuest, your research will be globally visible. Currently thousands of institutions, including the world’s leading universities, subscribe to ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT).

Simple Submission and Administration

Publishing dissertations and theses with ProQuest provides:

  • Editorial review: All dissertations and theses are reviewed by ProQuest's editorial staff, ensuring that key descriptors and subject terms are applied to maximise discoverability. Further, ProQuest inspects each work for completeness and a cursory review of the appendices is conducted for copyright compliance before publishing.
  • Copyright: ProQuest will manage filing of copyright registration with the U.S. Copyright Office, if desired.
  • A unique ISBN: This enables easy identification by libraries and researchers worldwide.
  • Preservation: ProQuest preserves each work in microform and digital formats with proven longevity – so that if anything should happen to the original copy of your dissertation, your valuable research will remain accessible through ProQuest.
  • Sales and royalties: Earn royalties whenever you dissertation is purchased in any format. (This does not apply to dissertations and theses published open access.)
  • Support for multiple languages: ProQuest can accommodate dissertations in all languages, provided they are submitted in PDF with English-language abstracts.
