Within any given technology article a user can expect to find on average 8 images which hold a lot of highly informative information that traditionally gets lost. With traditional article-level and full-text indexing searches, images are not captured. This is because specific information about tables and figures does not appear in any index—there are no indexing ‘hooks’ in the title, abstract, or caption.
