Index data from the HMSO decennials (1901-1979) and Parliamentary On-Line Information Service (POLIS) (1979- ) has been enhanced with the addition of broad subject categories based on headings created for Chadwyck Healey’s Subject Catalogue of the House of Commons Parliamentary Papers, 1801-1900. These headings have been edited and updated to include terms of contemporary relevance, such as ‘Communications and Mass Media’ and ‘Health and Social Services’. Names of chairmen of committees, a commonly used means of reference, have also been added.
