Wristbands help promote online resources for visually impaired
ProQuest joins in noisy celebrations for Make a Noise In Libraries campaign

CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom, July 20, 2005 - ProQuest Information and Learning will again join in the noisy celebrations during Make a Noise In Libraries (MANIL), July 923. MANIL is the annual awareness campaign from the National Library of the Blind (NLB) to encourage libraries to improve access to books, information and e-resources for blind and partially sighted people. As a sponsor of this campaign, ProQuest will be highlighting online resources which are readily available to the partially sighted and visually impaired. As part of awareness raising,ProQuest will be distributing blue wristbands with the KnowUK website www.knowuk.co.uk written in Braille. KnowUK is one of the most popular ProQuest digital resources subscribed to in public libraries across the United Kingdom . To support the visually impaired, KnowUK has accessibility features of both screen magnification and screen readers such as JAWS. KnowUK wristbands will be distributed to local library authorities to be used in conjunction with promotional events local authorities have organised to promote MANIL.
