CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom, June 10, 2005 - ProQuest Information and Learning has been chosen by NewsRx to be the
primary online distributor of its acclaimed health periodicals for academic
librarians, the companies jointly announced today. NewsRx is publisher
of such important works as Cancer Weekly, Vaccine Weekly, and Women's
Health Weekly. “Our decision to use ProQuest as our primary outlet to the academic library market was based on its smart management of our content online and our belief that ProQuest does the best job for this important market segment,” said Susan E. Hasty, NewsRx Publisher and COO. Founded in 1984, NewsRx produces 102 weekly medical, legal and business newsletters relating to drug and medical device development and regulation, disease and medical conditions, therapies and preventions, as well as industry financial and business trends. NewsRx is known worldwide for highly-respected reports, which together encompass more than 100,000 articles in 5300 issues annually. Its daily and weekly publishing cycles make it uniquely suited to the dynamic nature of health and medical information, providing ProQuest's burgeoning medical and allied health customer base with timely information. “NewsRx is an extremely valuable publishing partner because of the quality of the content they bring to ProQuest,” said Roger Tritton, ProQuest Senior Publisher. “We are delighted to have this extensive set of titles and the excellent information on trends in healthcare they bring.” The agreement between ProQuest and NewsRx brings a total of 102 NewsRx publications, which are available to libraries through a variety of ProQuest's STM databases including its popular Health and Medical Complete. ProQuest is renowned for its vast, accessible journal, newspaper and periodical databases. Continually expanding, ProQuest periodical databases grew by more than 1000 new newspaper and magazines in 2004. Well over 16,000 periodicals are now available through its products and more than 8,000 are full-text.
