ProQuest Information and Learning’s KnowUK makes shortlist in Directory and Database Publishers Association (DPA) Awards 2004
Divided line

CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom, May 19, 2004 - ProQuest Information and Learning’s KnowUK has been shortlisted in the DPA Awards for the prestigious title of E-Directory of the Year.

KnowUK is a unique online service developed to provide libraries with a complete collection of current UK-specific reference information from over 100 of the most widely used reference publications in the UK. KnowUK is currently available to over 10 million people in the UK through their public library, college or work – this includes every single library in Scotland.

KnowUK addresses key issues of the day. Remote access, for example, addresses the issue of social inclusion in public libraries. Meanwhile, for librarians in education, subscribing to KnowUK encourages lifelong learning while providing a high-level of reference information.

In deciding the overall winner in this category, judges will be looking at the interactive content, innovation, search effectiveness, ease of use, relevance of rankings, output formats, trading performance and revenue achieved.

The awards presentation is on Thursday, June 10, at the Royal Bath Hotel in Bournemouth.

The DPA represents the best in British directory and database publishing. The DPA logo assures advertisers and users of the commercial and editorial integrity of the publisher.

The DPA is the only organisation that represents the interests of bona fide UK directory and database publishers to government and the wider business community. It has also been involved with legal representations on aspects such as the Unsolicited Goods and Services Act and EC directives on databases, distance selling and copyright.
