Safari - KERIS
Divided line

CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom, February 10, 2004 - From January 2004, ProQuest Information and Learning has started to provide Safari Tech Books Online to universities in Korea through a consortium formed by KERIS (Korea Education and Research Information Service).

Safari Tech Books Online is a premier IT e-book service founded by the world’s two most prominent publishers of information technology (IT) books: O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. and The Pearson Technology Group. Many universities in Korea have joined the consortium and the number of member universities will grow throughout the year. The universities joining the consortium will have access to almost 2,000 IT tech books provided by the best IT publishers for one year.

"Safari will contribute to expanding access to the most up-to-date IT books by students and professors in Korea and also help patrons to understand and use e-books as important electronic resources for search in libraries,” said Hyeyoung Han, director of research information service of KERIS.

About Safari
In July 2002, O'Reilly & Associates and The Pearson Technology Group joined forces to create a joint venture, Safari Books Online. The premise was simple: Take the best IT books from the best authors and publishers. Put them into an online, searchable database. Offer it to IT professionals as a means of addressing their never-ending need to quickly pinpoint reliable code examples and technical information. The result has been extraordinary. Safari's flagship service, Safari Tech Books Online, has exceeded all expectations selling site licenses to Fortune 50 companies, major universities and leading training organizations worldwide.
